The Annual Christmas Luncheon held by The Hellenic Ladies Benevolent Society on December 6th, 2015 at the Hellenic Community Centre was a huge success. It was a beautiful afternoon in a magical Christmas setting in the Grande Salle of our community centre complete with the appearance of Santa Claus for the children as well as a children’s choir and the Zakynthian Association Dance Group.
There were 175 people in attendance all of whom enjoyed this wonderful afternoon. Among those in attendance were the President of the HCGM, Nicholas Pagonis and Mrs. Pagonis. Also in attendance were Rena Papathanakou and Michael Tellides, two very special people from CFMB who have participated in our Marathon Agapi for the last 46 years and we thank them most sincerely for their dedication and support.
The proceeds from this event will provide scholastic assistance to underprivileged children within the Greek Community in the form of school supplies, uniforms, school fees, lunch fees, etc.
We also honoured Sophia Economides, a dedicated volunteer with a lifetime commitment to the Hellenic Community and other organizations at large. She volunteered for the HLBS from 1950 to 2003. This is quite an achievement for one individual.
