ANNOUNCEMENT TO ALL STUDENTS
The Hellenic Ladies Benevolent Society is pleased to announce the launching of a Bursary Program for students of Greek origin.
To be eligible for consideration, candidates must:
- Be a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident of Quebec
- Live in the Greater Montreal Area
- Be enrolled, or intend to enroll, in studies or training during the upcoming academic year 2021-2022
- Prove financial need
The four categories to be funded are: Post-Secondary Academic Studies, Vocational Studies, Sports Training, and Creative/Performing Arts Training.
Candidates applying for post-secondary studies (ie. CEGEP or university) must be over the age of 16 years. However, there is no maximum age limit as we wish to encourage upskilling and life-long learning. As for Sports and Arts candidates, there is no minimum age specification since talent can appear at an early age.
Adhering to a set of strict selection criteria, the Bursary Selection Committee, made up of several members of the Board of Directors along with external invitees (ex. coaches, trainers, etc.) as needed, will select four candidates – one for each stream –academic, vocational, sports, and Arts. Once selected, candidates will be invited to an interview, at which time, they will have to show their supporting documents (listed on the application form).
The amount of each bursary is $2,000, and it will be awarded at the beginning of the school year.
If you are interested in applying for an HLBS Bursary, please complete the application form that applies to your situation by September 17, 2021.
